Outside of tutoring, I am a professional painter based in London and have a strong passion for art and painting, having completed an MA in Painting at the Royal College of Art. My artistic practice is an important part of my life, and I enjoy drawing, visiting galleries and exhibitions, and exploring different creative approaches and ideas. I also have a keen interest in football and golf, as well as travel.
My professional experience in investment banking and with the United Nations peacekeeping forces has further developed my interests in finance, economics and global affairs. PERSONAL STATEMENT
I am a passionate and committed tutor with a strong academic and professional background in Mathematics and Economics. I hold a BSc in Mathematics and Economics from the London School of Economics (LSE) and an MA in Painting from the Royal College of Art, giving me a combination of analytical, quantitative and creative skills that I bring to my teaching.
I have over 10 years of tutoring experience, supporting students across GCSE, IGCSE, A-Level and IB curricula, including students from leading independent schools. I specialise in Mathematics and Economics, teaching GCSE and IGCSE Mathematics and Economics, as well as A-Level Mathematics covering Pure Mathematics, Statistics and Mechanics, and A-Level Economics. I particularly enjoy helping students who may initially find a subject challenging to develop a clear understanding, greater confidence and a genuine interest in learning.
One of the most rewarding experiences of my tutoring career began when I was asked to teach Mathematics to a 12-year-old boy. What started as regular weekly lessons developed into a long-term relationship, and I continued teaching him throughout his secondary education. I supported him through his GCSEs and IB, adapting my approach as his studies became increasingly demanding. He went on to achieve an A* in GCSE Mathematics and a Grade 7 in IB Higher Level Mathematics, and I am incredibly proud that he is now going on to study at the University of Cambridge. Watching his development from a 12-year-old student into a successful Cambridge-bound student has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my tutoring career. It reinforced my belief that consistent, personalised support can have a lasting impact on a student’s confidence, ability and academic trajectory.
My professional career has also given me a broad perspective beyond academia. I have experience in investment banking and have worked with the United Nations peacekeeping forces, experiences that have strengthened my understanding of finance, economics, international affairs and working with people from diverse backgrounds.
I am currently based in London, where I work as a professional painter. Art and painting are a central part of my life, and my creative practice has taught me the importance of patience, discipline, observation and independent thinking. I believe these qualities are equally valuable when working with students.
As a tutor, I aim to create a supportive, engaging and intellectually stimulating environment. My goal is not simply to help students achieve better grades, but to develop their confidence, curiosity and ability to think independently, giving them the skills to succeed both inside and outside the classroom.
