PERSONAL STATEMENT

Great teaching is the key to unlocking a passion for learning in students. I can confidently say that the subjects that I am most interested in now are those that, throughout my educational journey, have been taught by the most enthusiastic and compassionate teachers. Therefore, as a tutor, I strive to make learning an engaging experience for students of all abilities. I also recognise the importance of building rapport with students and taking the time to understand their own particular needs. I know how effective tutoring can be as I had a tutor for English during my transition years to high school. My tutor provided focused learning that nurtured my confidence at a time when I felt lost in progressively growing class numbers. My experience with my tutor was so positive that I went on to study English as a University Undergraduate. I would love to provide a similar tailored learning experience for younger students to help unlock a passion for and ability in a subject they may not even know they have. Finally, having recently worked as a nanny with children approaching their Common Entrance examinations, I know this can be an overwhelming time for young students. However, one of the most rewarding parts of my work as a Nanny is helping children overcome these new challenges and confidently progress through stages of education. From this experience, I am inspired to take a nurturing, supportive and positive approach to tutoring to help students grow into confident young people and achieve their academic potential.
