SKILLS & INTERESTS
I’m a scientist at heart and love anything that involves figuring out how or why something works. My particular interests are cancer biology, genetics, biochemistry, pharmacology and medical science, but I also genuinely enjoy the problem-solving side of Mathematics.
I’m naturally curious and love finding simple ways to explain complicated ideas — often using diagrams, real-life examples or slightly ridiculous analogies that somehow make the topic stick!
Outside science, I enjoy travelling, reading, baking, painting and Arabic calligraphy. I’m fluent in Arabic and English and have also studied French.
WORK EXPERIENCE
I have worked as a teacher in a private school, Tanzeel, since 2019. I teach a class of girls, ages of 6-9, Arabic language and Islamic Studies. With a classroom of 15, I make sure that each student has individualised attention and that I cater to their unique learning needs and pace. I maintain open communication with the parents, providing them with weekly written updates and bi-annual parent evenings. I ensure that my classroom is a safe environment, so that each child is comfortable and tries their best every day. I always uphold a class reward system, which is appealing for the young girls and provides motivation.
PERSONAL STATEMENT
I’m an experienced tutor with an MSc in Cancer with Distinction and a First-Class degree in Biochemistry, and I have been tutoring since 2018.
Over the years, I’ve taught students from primary school all the way through to university. My main areas are Maths, Biology, Chemistry and Science, but I’ve also taught English, Arabic, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, UCAT and supported students with personal statements and university applications.
What I enjoy most about tutoring is taking something that initially feels confusing or overwhelming and making it finally click.
My lessons are relaxed but purposeful. I’ll usually break difficult topics into manageable steps, use questions to check understanding and then gradually get the student solving problems independently. For exam students, we’ll also work on past papers, exam technique and how to turn knowledge into marks.
I’m particularly conscious that confidence can make a huge difference. I’ve taught students who genuinely believed they were “bad at Maths” or “couldn’t do Science”, only to see them become much more confident once they were given the right explanation and enough encouragement.
Because every student learns differently, I don’t teach from a fixed script. Some students need diagrams, some need lots of practice questions, some need real-world examples and some just need somebody to slow things down and explain the topic in a completely different way.
My aim is simple: make difficult subjects feel less intimidating, help students understand what they’re doing rather than memorising it, and make lessons enjoyable enough that learning doesn’t feel like a chore.
