SKILLS & INTERESTS
Outside of tutoring and teaching, I’m extremely active and enjoy taking part in a variety of sports, with a particular passion for football. Music also plays a big part in my life, and I have a broad and varied taste (my Spotify is all over the place). Theatre has been a long-term passion of mine, and I have previously directed and performed in a range of musical and dramatic productions. Today, I continue to enjoy theatre as an avid audience member. I also enjoy exploring new experiences through travel and value the opportunity to learn about different cultures, histories, and religions. These interests reflect my curiosity, enthusiasm for learning, and openness to new experiences.

PERSONAL STATEMENT
I am an experienced, enthusiastic tutor and secondary school teacher, currently in my fifth year of teaching Mathematics. Over this time, I have taught GCSE Mathematics across every set and attainment level, giving me extensive experience in supporting students with a wide range of abilities, confidence levels, and learning needs. I also teach GCSE Further Mathematics and have begun teaching AS Level Mathematics, allowing me to guide students as they move into more advanced and challenging content.
I have a genuine love for both mathematics and teaching. Maths was a subject I found fascinating at school, and that interest has only grown as I’ve continued to study and teach it. I enjoy breaking down complex ideas into clear, manageable steps and helping students see patterns, logic, and structure in a way that finally clicks. I am constantly learning new things about the subject I teach, while also having a strong and secure understanding of the curriculum and, crucially, how to achieve high grades in exams.
One of my greatest strengths as a tutor is my ability to adapt. Every student is different, and I take time to understand how each individual learns best. Whether a student needs lots of reassurance, more challenge, or a completely different explanation, I tailor my approach to suit them. I believe that confidence is key in mathematics, and I work hard to create a calm, supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes.
I chose to go into teaching because I was inspired by the amazing teachers I had myself, and I wanted to have that same positive impact on young people. Helping students realise their potential, build belief in their abilities, and achieve outcomes they may not have thought possible is incredibly rewarding. I take pride in being patient, encouraging, and genuinely invested in my students’ success.
Alongside Mathematics, I am also able to tutor Humanities subjects, which are another passion of mine. My undergraduate degree was in History, and I enjoy helping students develop strong written answers, critical thinking skills, and the confidence to express their ideas clearly. This subject knowledge allows me to support students who may need help across more than one area of their studies.
I have built up a large bank of carefully designed resources for GCSE Mathematics and beyond, including exam-style questions, targeted practice, and revision materials that address common misconceptions. Combined with my classroom and tutoring experience, this allows me to quickly identify gaps in understanding and focus sessions where they will have the greatest impact.
I strongly believe that one-to-one tutoring can make a huge difference. Individual sessions allow lessons to move at the student’s pace, focus on their specific strengths and weaknesses, and provide immediate feedback and support. Without the pressure of a classroom, students often feel more confident to ask questions, revisit tricky topics, and truly engage with the subject. This personalised approach is often key to unlocking progress and building lasting confidence.
Above all, I am a warm, approachable, and dedicated tutor who genuinely cares about helping students succeed. Whether a student is working towards passing an exam, aiming for top grades, or simply wanting to feel more confident in their learning, I am committed to supporting them every step of the way.
