TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Love Learning Tutors: French, English Literature, Italian
GCSE: Italian
A-Level: French, English Literature

Most recently, I supported informal English language conversation classes with Student Action for Refugees, helping learners develop vocabulary and confidence through guided discussion. I have also volunteered for several years at my local library, supporting the Summer Reading Challenge by engaging children in conversations about their reading. In addition, my volunteering and work experience at a ballet school gave me experience working with learners aged 3 to 68 in an environment where clear communication and understanding were essential to ensure safety.

SKILLS & INTERESTS

I am very much a languages nerd. Though English is my mother tongue, I speak French and Italian to a BA level (C1- French/B2- Italian). Outside of this I have dedicated time to learning Spanish, Polish, Mandarin and now Swedish, though I cannot claim to be competent in them! This has inspired my love of folklore and literature, and I am particularly interested in children’s literature (especially the Moomins!) Growing up I was a pre-professional ballet dancer, and although I do not currently take classes, I still love to dance. To relax, I do a lot of crocheting and have recently made hats for my family as presents

PERSONAL STATEMENT

Growing up as a shy child, it seems almost counterinutive that I ended up pursuing languages, an area so focused on speaking. But, after a particularly encouraging French
teacher, I found my passion and my voice, in multiple languages. In truth, I found that learning to articulate myself in multiple modern languages gave me the skills and confidence to do so in my own. I am motivated to help other students find their passion and their voice, even when it seems daunting. I am particularly drawn to one-to-one tutoring, as it allows teaching to be tailored to each learner and gives students the space to ask questions and grow in confidence at their own pace. Working with children in a ballet school setting has encouraged me to continue supporting learners of all ages in a more academic capacity.
Seeing how encouragement, clarity, and patience can transform confidence has shaped the way I think about teaching and learning. Alongside this, I have a particular love for international children’s literature, from classic European texts to the Moomins, which I think captures curiosity, imagination, and emotional understanding in a way that resonates strongly with learning. I believe education should feel engaging and reassuring, and I aim to bring that same sense of openness and creativity into my tutoring.
