SKILLS & INTERESTS
I love nature and the outdoors and like to work on projects related to them. For example, I have written a children's book on animal habitats and ecology (in press). As an avid snorkeler I designed and patented (pending) a diving fin to minimize damage to coral reefs. I am a member of my university’s outdoors society where I climb and hike with my friends. To relax, I enjoy playing bass with my flatmate and playing videogames. During summers I like to travel, leading me to work on public art projects in Japan and China which work with marginalised communities.

PERSONAL STATEMENT
Sitting beside my father and grandfather while they explained the science behind the world around me first ignited my love of learning. I soon began to explain as much as I was taking it in, lecturing my parents and friends. That is where my passion for teaching first began.
In Year 5 at the discretion of my form teacher I gave weekly presentations to my class on zoology. Years later as a prefect I began tutoring maths and science subjects for younger years which helped them to excel in their studies. Throughout key stage 4 and 5 I continued to tutor, teaching GCSE and A level subjects, as well as preparing students for the RSC chemistry olympiad and for university admissions. Seeing a student proud and confident in their understanding, and knowing I played a role is what drives me as a tutor.
I love teaching the sciences and I believe, when done well, lessons should feel like a smooth and interesting conversation where each student learns due to their engagement in the topic.
As a first year university student, my GCSE and A level exams are recent memories and I can clearly recall what I did well and where I struggled with and thus I am able to tutor students with a clear and holistic view. Of course, people are all unique in how they learn, and I nurture each pupil towards healthy habits which work with their own style of thinking. Tutoring is something I take seriously and I aim to improve understanding and performance in my students for their desired subjects.
