Our pick: Mental Arithmetic (£3.95)

Their Mental Maths have been a staple in most classrooms for over 20 years. Students can work their way up the levels and with each book costing between £4-6, what is not to like? They have thin workbooks dedicated to specific topics: fractions, telling time, written calculations. Students can start these from as young as 7 years of age.

Not only are their books affordable, but they offer free guide books for parents and workbooks for 11 Plus examinations that are also available online. They’ve made CEM and GL specific workbooks too.

Maths Salamander

Maths Salamander doesn't involve a sign up and offers a wide array of free Maths worksheets organized by category and age group. They also have some fun games, puzzles and activities that will liven up your study sessions.

 

Tes

Also known as Times Educational Supplement, Tes has an extensive collection of learning resources. Some resources are free, some you will need to pay for. Apart from 11 Plus Maths, they offer various guides including some for families with special needs.

A lot of the questions are based on key operations and will improve mental maths. For some students, learning times tables feels like a real chore.
