I’m also happy to tutor in Norwegian when the opportunity arises!
My past experience of working with children and young adults has mainly been through music tuition.
I worked as a private Piano teacher to primary school aged children, and also more recently as an assistant music teacher at my local music centre where I helped to run string orchestras for children aged 7-15. During my gap year, I spent 6 months working in France as a full-time au-pair to 3 multilingual children.
Skills and Interests
Language skills:
French – good level – I spent 6 months living and working in France, A-level
Norwegian – high conversational standard, good general standard – I study Norwegian at university, and spent 6-weeks on an intensive language course at the University of Oslo
I spend all my free time playing music! As a member of the committee for the UCL Jazz Society, I run a weekly jazz jam, play in termly concerts and volunteer in bands at the UCLH Cancer Clinic. I also play the cello in classical orchestras, most recently with the Young Musician’s Symphony Orchestra at St John Smith’s Square.

Personal Statement
A fantastic teacher at my secondary school encouraged my academic interests by providing me with books and resources that were distinct, but complementary, to my school studies. Tailored education experiences such as this were very formative in establishing the love of learning I have today. I was lucky to have teachers who tried to engage on a personal level with my academic journey, but I know that it would be very difficult for this to be available to every student across the country. The opportunity to provide other students with the benefits of an individualistic learning environment is therefore something I feel passionate about.
I am obsessed with my degree studies now, and have varied and passionate interests in lots of different subjects. I love getting to know other students, no matter where they are on their academic path, and I love working with children and young adults.
I think tutoring provides the ideal environment for education that is specific to the tutee’s ways of thinking and working. By creating a strong personal relationship, it is possible to play to a tutee’s strengths, whilst working on weaker areas in a way that inspires confidence. I am invested in encouraging the curiosity and confidence every student should be able to associate with learning.
