Personal Statement

Having personally experienced four different education systems in the last five years, I have obtained an ample idea of what a great teacher should be like. By having the chance of being taught by teachers from various background with different teaching techniques, I can now see and understand what works with students and what does not. Moreover, I have learned the importance of one individual in student’s academic development. I can indeed connect my own passion for Literature and History to specific teachers who showed me education in a way which I had not known before. I am convinced that I would not be who I am and where I am if it was not for a couple of outstanding individuals who cared about my personal growth. I am now eager to share my passions with others through tutoring, while ensuring that a student is motivated and progressing. Hence, in my teaching I aim to build confidence while concentrating on positive achievements. I believe that the setting of tutoring is pivotal, as it offers a highly personal approach, with practices precisely tailored to student’s needs. More importantly, I enjoy working with children of any age, as my previous working experiences show. The fact that I finished high school only last year enables me to have a better grasp of topics discussed, as this knowledge is still fresh to me. As I am possibly close in age to some tutees, I also believe and hope that I will be able to form friendships which will only help in developing their academic abilities.
