SKILLS AND INTERESTS

As demonstrated through my academic journey, I have a strong interest in art and enjoy going to exhibitions and museums. I love to travel and learn more about different cultures and food. Although travelling has been put to a halt during the pandemic, I believe that London is an excellent place to explore a variety of food and cuisines. I also enjoy playing badminton and have taken up running.

PERSONAL STATEMENT

I had started tutoring with family members, mainly helping with essay-based subjects such as History and English. For the past year, I have tutored a young girl in primary school in Hong Kong, teaching English, and she had made significant progress within the year. I believe that tutoring is incredibly effective in improving as well as enabling children to reach their full potential. For me, seeing this growth in learning and confidence is incredibly rewarding.

I am interested in helping students reach their full potential and having had setbacks within my own academic journey, I understand the feeling and difficulties students go through. As I have recently graduated, I am able to understand education from a perspective of not so long ago. Having attended Haberdashers’ Aske’s School for Girls, and receiving scholarship offers from various independent schools, I understand the process of the common entrance exams and I hope that I can offer my assistance. My tutoring approach and plan will include assessing and catering towards the student’s individual needs. I will use my own exam methods and techniques that will really help with understanding the structure of how to perform well. I hope that this will really inspire and enable children to want to learn more, and not feel disheartened about tackling difficult aspects in subjects.
